Courts issue restraining orders to protect individuals from physical harm. In addition, if there is any threat of harm being done to someone this is where a restraining order would be useful. If there is an issue that comes up you are able to run to the court and request an ex-parte restraining order. An ex-parte restraining order is a temporary order that a family law judge can issue until a hearing is available.
